Ecomondo 2024: ready to take the stage!

Following in the footsteps of last year’s event, and in light of Ecomondo 2024, we held a public speaking session to offer students the tools required to speak in public in a self-assured and authentic manner.
The event was divided into two parts. In the first, Maria Bonifacio, Gruppo Happy communications consultant, invited the students to reflect on how their training course with the Happy Academy, in partnership with Fondazione Luigi Masserini, Corepla and BitDesign, has influenced the way they see plastic and packaging. Each of these partners provided a unique contribution, helping the young people to develop critical thinking and greater awareness of a topic often discussed in a superficial manner.

In this context, Sofia and Michele talked about how their project was initially called “Plastic Free” but, as the training course progressed, their perception changed radically: they understood that demonising a particular material was not the solution, but that the challenge consists of knowing and managing it responsibly, integrating waste management with recycling to reduce the environmental impact. The second part of the session was dedicated to learning public speaking techniques, with Maria Bonifacio introducing practical tips to involve the audience, convey self-assuredness and ensure a memorable presence. At the end of the meeting, we continued the dialogue with Sofia, Michele, Camilla, Chiara and Luca who will be participating along with their fellow pupils in the 7 November event at Ecomondo 2024, and offered to speak there.

It was clear how much this training has driven them to overcome their prejudices, appreciating the value of information based on data and respect for resources.
We are proud of the work we have done with these young people, who have demonstrated a level of enthusiasm and determination which make us hopeful for the future. We are ready to take their message of change to Ecomondo 2024: we can’t wait to be there with them!
